This weekend I pickup my new (used) CNC
machine and it basically has taken the whole weekend to collect the CNC from a
guy in Jutland and get it home and do the first test cuts.
The CNC is built in the year 1990 by the CNC firm WISSNER in Germany so it is a
very heavy and well build CNC.
CNC outer size is 120cm deep and around 80cm width, the side arms makes it 25cm
extra in each side to the total width with the arms is 130cm.
The weight are not know but I am guessing that it is around 250-300kg so I have
to find a heavy well build table stand to place it on.
Work table size is Y 80cm, X 60cm and the Y is 7cm but at the time it cannot use
the 7cm because the end stops prevent it from doing the full end to end move,
but that will be fixed.
There was included a complete PC with monitor and it is installed with Ubuntu
Linux OS and LinuxCNC, I have not used LinuxCNC before so I used some time to
get it working.
The electronics is not working very well
as it is just having an cheap EBay controller and the end stops are unstable,
also the wiring is not very good.
So I think that I have to redo the whole electronics and upgrading to better
Here you can see some photos of the CNC and there is also a link to a YouTube
video there is showing one of my first test runs to test the machine.
So now I am the lucky owner of this nice little CNC and is looking forward to be using it.
Here is an YouTube video of some of the first test cuts (Open a new window)
Later on I will blog about the steppes I do to rebuild the CNC machine.
