|I was missing a smart way to make the reports in Backup Exec and save them to files every, so they can be placed in the firesafe/bank-box with the backup tape, so where it comes to a restore then it is a lot easier to do a restore as I can look in the reports and see what tapes there is need for restoring each server.|
So after looking at it for some time I then found that be using the Backup Exec command line tool bemcmd.exe to make the reports and save them to a folder there then later on get backup.
So I have now made a smart VBS script there is making a export of every Backup Exec report as both PDF, XML and HTML into a nice file tree and the script also write some extra html files to the file tree so the whole output folder end up as a nice and easy website that can be view from a browser.
The script also deletes reports outputs there older the 7 days so the folder not just fill up the disk.
To use the script I have simply made a backup job in Backup Exec there is running the script and then it backup the output folder to tape, this way it is automatic run and put on tapes for safe keeping
This is a demo of how the output looks like
To get the script, simply click on software in the menu and there is a sub-page for the Backup Exec Report export script.
Hope you can use it
